The football season is back again and with Qatar 2022 kicking off, many fans of the sport are wishing they could have been right there in Qatar to experience the greatest event of the year and watch their favourite teams battle it out on the field.
As data analysts and data scientists, our goal which is in line with company vision was to give viewers an experience which brings clarity through insights. For all the fans who could not make it to Qatar, we decided to build a dashboard which would provide not only the data and insights but also carry the excitement of the game, all at the click of a mouse. And for fans who made it to Qatar but will still want that something extra to guide them through the tournament, our dashboard is just the tool to adopt.
We start our journey by introducing fans to the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup. This takes fans through the stadiums, competing teams and fixtures.
The stadium experience gives you dazzling pictures of the iconic stadiums built for the World Cup. As you marvel at the sight and sheer grandeur of each stadium, you are presented with a brief history of each one, a chance to find out more and directions on how to get there if you are in Qatar as well as a link to the Google Map location. . Additional includes a direction using the metro as well as taxi options. Furthermore, one is given the Google location of the stadium and corresponding matches for each stadium. Check this.
Next, we proceed to the teams represented at the world Cup 2022. The group standing is the first bit of information to be received, then followed by the team stats (with an option to see more). The stats gives a head-to-head analysis, matches played, number of appearances and cups, goals and a history of performances. (Check the stats of your favourite team). Finally, fans can catch a glimpse of the bio data of their favourite players, their clubs and age. Bonus: Each player in the see more has his image and the ages shown as you hover on the player name.
We also decided to give more clarity with our Statistics page, the world Cup matches page and the international matches page. The statistics page contains all world cup winners, goals, best players and top goal scorers. Our data sets on the international matches spans from 1900s to October 2022. It contains all FIFA accredited matches and major competitions.
Check our dashboard below and give us your feedback.
